Chaos In Bloom for Gardeners

Chaos in Bloom, the first album of their career to be produced by frontman John Rzeznik, is set to arrive on August 12th, 2022 via Warner Records. The album finds the band at the top of their game, constantly evolving after nearly four decades together. Consisting of 10 tracks, Chaos in Bloom is an album of biting sarcasm, stadium-ready choruses, and the type of spear-sharp songwriting that has led the band to become one of the most influential alternative rock groups of all time.

While Chaos in Bloom is not necessarily an album borne out of the pandemic, many of the tracks reflect on the amplified aspects of daily life that everyone experienced during isolation and confinement at home. "Chaos in Bloom reminded us how special this whole thing is and to cherish the relationships that we have together," says Rzeznik, reflecting on the album's themes of personal reflections on the state of the world and societal commentaries.

To record the album, Rzeznik and bassist and songwriter Robby Takac retreated to Dreamland Studios, just outside Woodstock, New York, during the pandemic. This remote location, rich with historic rock music roots, proved to be the perfect setting for the band to clear the noise and create a record with a true live quality, blending vintage instruments and gear with new-age recording processes and techniques.

Oscillating from personal reflections on the state of the world to societal commentaries, the songs on the album grapple with observations about our dystopian modernity while searching for optimism and pushing for a more empathetic world. "I've been trying to have a relationship with the bigger picture," adds Takac, "and refining happiness and what it means from that perspective."

The band's constant evolution and the album's thematic exploration of the amplified aspects of daily life during the pandemic have resulted in a record that showcases the group at the top of their game. Chaos in Bloom promises to be a powerful and thought-provoking addition to the band's discography, cementing their status as one of the most influential alternative rock groups of all time.
